A Few Common Myths When It Comes to Solving Tree Related Challenges

“Homeowners often believe it’s OK to tackle tree removal on their own or hire a friend with a chainsaw.”

Even smaller tree jobs can result in serious injury. You as the homeowner could be sued if an injury occurs and so may the person doing your work. From an insurance perspective, when you hire an uninsured 3rd party to work on your property and the person is injured they may be put in the position of having to sue. Protect yourself, don’t risk injury to yourself or others and hire professionals who carry the proper property and liability insurance.

“I can save money renting a stump grinder or pull a smaller one out using a tractor and chains, etc…”

Grinding stumps is hard tricky work and if you’re not familiar with how to do this properly or you rent inferior equipment, it can take much longer to do than you thought. Also, if rental equipment breaks you may have to pay for breakage. Trying to remove a stump with a tractor and chains is a bad idea and can result in serious injury with the tractor turning over. The safest easiest way to remove a stump is to have a professional tree service with the proper equipment grind it out.

“I heard it’s good to top my trees to invigorate them or reduce storm damage and make them easier to take care of.”

Although selective pruning of branches can benefit trees, the practice of tree topping damages trees and can make them structurally unstable. Cutting back large limbs and branches can weaken trees and subject them to disease and decay, as well as starve your tree of nutrients. Topping a tree doesn’t add value to your property as some mistakenly believe. The tree may become a hazard as the structure of the tree is weakened. Instead of ending up with a healthy beautiful tree, just the opposite can occur.

Frequently Asked Questions

“What is involved when it comes to removing large trees?”

Large trees normally require careful removal of sections of the tree from the top
down. This is the safest way to remove a big tree as opposed to felling the tree all at once. In some instances we use a crane for large trees as well as proper rigging to help prevent damage and ensure safety. Professionals never rush this work –it’s important to get the proper rigging and support platforms in place before any cutting takes place.

I’m concerned about removing a tree too close to my home. Have you had extensive experience removing these trees?

Yes, we have the experience as well as the right equipment that allows us to maneuver in tight spots. If needed we’ll bring a crane onsite to methodically remove threatening limbs, utilizing special rigging for lowering cut limbs and branches safely. In this way we carefully avoid landing limbs on roofs, avoid wires going into the home, etc… Any sensitive areas will be covered and protected to
prevent damage.

“Why is it important to have a licensed insured tree service do tree removal work?”

Tree work can be dangerous and as such, having the proper amount of liability insurance protects you, the homeowner from any unforeseen damages or personnel injuries. If personnel injuries occur on your property, workers are covered. If you’re unsure whether a tree service has the proper insurance or is carrying the right amount of insurance coverage, ask for proof of liability insurance from the company’s insurance carrier.

“What is a Certified Arborist and why should I hire one?”

“The Certified Arborist credential identifies professional arborists who have a minimum of three years’ full-time experience working in the professional tree care industry and who have passed an extensive examination covering all facets of arboriculture.”

Members of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) of which we are members, must pass a rigorous exam in order to become certified. When seeking tree related services, it is in your best interests to hire a company that meets industry standards that is professionally certified and knowledgeable, as well as keeping up to date with what’s happening in the world of tree health and care.

“How can I know if my tree(s) are compromised or in danger of falling?”

Tree risk assessment is part of the job of a certified arborist. As trees become older or diseased, they become vulnerable to a variety of stress factors that adversely affect their health and threaten their structural viability or integrity.

We’ll come to your property to assess any potential dangers trees may pose so that you have a proper assessment and can then take preventative measures in order to avoid injury or costly damage from weaker trees.

“What are the main reasons why I should keep and continue planting trees on my property?”

Having a variety of beautiful healthy trees on your property not only enhances the value of your property, your trees provide you with a meaningful connection to Nature that is often missing today. Trees convey the natural cycle of life, coming to life in spring, vibrant and giving shade in summer…shedding leaves in fall in preparation for winter…

There’s something truly rewarding about planting trees and watching them grow into some of your oldest friends. Taking care of your trees year after year as they become a permanent part of home…it’s an amazing journey you can enjoy, share and be a part of for years to come.
